Our house is getting empty-6 more days!

Sleep deprivation, anxiety and excitement has led me to this point. Since April, I have been loading up the van with bags to donate at goodwill. Now, all the stuff has been donating and I have begun packing stuff from our closets. We just have out what we will wear this week! I have sold the refrigerator, dryer and tomorrow, the baby tv will be gone.

Climbing Mt. Everest Was Easy

Last week ten powerful and courageous women from Saudi Arabia reached the peak of Mt. Everest. You can know a little more about who they are by clicking here. The unfortunate truth is that these women were responsible enough to plan and achieve their goal for a great cause.
Taken from the Facebook Page

Yet these same women are denied the basic rights, which can be driving a car. Traveling outside the country without a written consent of a male guardian is illegal. Education institutes require the father only to provide her daughter the permission to study, HR requires a male guardian to provide authorization from a male guardian for her to work in the Kingdom. Worst part is to get serious medical attention a male relative must be present and authorize doctors to perform surgery or provide any other medical assistance.

Despite all these set backs these ladies were able to conquer their fears and reach to the top of the world.

Oslo Freedom Forum | Manal's Speech.

MANAL AL-SHARIF is a women’s rights activist from Saudi Arabia and is one of the primary organizers of the Women2Drive campaign, which advocates for women’s right to drive in Saudi Arabia. She garnered international attention after posting a video on YouTube of herself, driving, in an act of civil disobedience. In retaliation, the Saudi government detained al-Sharif and charged her with “disturbing public order" and “inciting public opinion." She was released nine days later, after an international campaign on her behalf.

Here is her speech from the Oslo Freedom Forum.

Feel free to follow her and support her via Facebook or Twitter. My favorite quote from her.

"Because my mother couldn't change my present,I decided 2 change my daughter's future" Manal Al-Sherif.

Abaya Barbie

I was surprised to find this on eBay. It is much more modest compared to the latest mermaid Barbie in the USA!
